Jared was first introduced to the martial arts in Florida at the age of 17, when he joined a Shorin Ryu Karate dojo. He instantly fell in love with the martial arts, and that love has evolved into a lifelong passion. After serving a two year church mission for his church, Jared relocated to Southern Utah to attend Southern Utah University. Over the next 10 years, Jared studied a variety of martial arts including jujitsu and Ninjutsu. In 1998, Guru Don Brinkerhoff, a close friend and mentor, called Jared and invited him to come up to Tooele Utah to meet Tuhon Ricardo Sebastian, the grandmaster of a Filipino “jujitsu” system. Jared made the trip up to Tooele and as they say the rest is history. Jared immediately began studying Kamagong. Jared was awarded a second degree black belt in the Kamagong USA martial arts system. Jared also received his instructor certification. Since then, Jared has been promoted to sixth degree black belt and sits on the Kamagong USA governing board. Jared is the Head instructor of the systems Southern Utah Dojo.
