SparingWelcome to Brindoryu Kali.  Please feel free to look around, and if you have questions; please don’t hesitate to click on the Facebook Link below; any of the email links found on the site; or give us a call.

Brindo literally means Brink’s Way.  Ryu is the Japanese for Dragon or School, and Kali is the generic term for the Martial Arts from the Philippines.  So a rough translation of the system name is:
Brink’s way to the Dragon Art.

Brindoryu Kali is a Blend of MANY Martial Arts Disciplines from many different Asian Cultures.  Primarily the System is based on three Martial Arts:  Lin Qui (a little known Chinese Martial Art); multiple systems of Japanese Jujitsu (with an emphasis on the Budoshin System); and multiple Filipino Martial Arts (with an emphasis on the Kamagong Martial Arts System).

The Instructors here have studied several different Martial Arts systems including Japanese, Chinese and Filipino systems.  The systems we have studied formally include Kamagong, Budoshin Jujitsu, Myamaryu Jujutsu, FujiRyu Jujutsu, Lin Qui (Chinese) NinJutsu, TogakariRyu Ninjutsu, Shorin Ryu Karate, and American Kenpo Karate.  Informally we have studied a small portion of the systems taught at the Inosanto Academy, Lameco, Pekiti Tirsia Kali, Tai Chi, Ishinryu Karate, Judo, Jeet Kun Do and others.

We are curently members of two Martial Arts Organizations:

Kali Warrior Arts Association &
The American-Do Karate Federation

The Martial Arts are a path not a destination.  New students often ask, “How long will it take me to get a “Black Belt.”  More important is the question, “What new insights will I get during this class.”  In the Martial Arts, the goal is not as important as the journey.  Just as each person’s life is different, so is the path and the length of time their journey will take.  As students study Brindoryu they will discover some things that are key for them to become a proficient and qualified Martial Artist, but they will also discover that not all principles are key for all people.  These principles are the doorway to mastering the Dragon, or in other words mastering oneself.  We have not yet mastered our Dragons, and may not during this life, but we are walking the path, and invite you to walk with us to see where your journey takes you.
